Chaplains Only

Welcome

PURPOSE:

The purpose and goal of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Program is to provide a core group of professional, ordained, (Chaplains) or vowed men and women in religious communities,  from a variety of faiths, who volunteer their time and talents to the Deputies and citizens of Douglas County, as Chaplains.  A law enforcement Chaplain is certainly a challenging role to fill as all Chaplains are clergy, however, all clergy often times cannot fill the role of a Chaplain.  A Chaplain is indeed a special person.  By definition a Chaplain is “A vowed man or woman of faith specially trained to minister through counsel, comfort and acts of kindness in a non-traditional setting to those affected by tragedy, disaster, or trauma.

The law enforcement chaplain will seek to lighten the burden of the Deputies by performing tasks that have a greater spiritual or social nature rather than of a law enforcement nature.  The Chaplain Program strives to strike a balance between serving the needs of the Deputies in their personal and professional lives and serving the citizens of Douglas County at large.
